This will be a major expense for our program.  Please spread the word about our rebuilding efforts or donate, any contribution you can make would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you so much for your time and consideration.  https://forms.gle/qXVEZgqaZGnoHR3T7

It is with deep regret that we announce the cancellation of the upcoming 43rd Florida International Air Show, due to the severe impacts of both Hurricane Milton and Hurricane Helene on our community. The safety and well-being of our attendees, volunteers, and community are our top priority, and given the extensive damage and challenges these storms have brought, it is clear that moving forward with the event is not possible at this time.

The Military Heritage Museum needs your support after Hurricanes Helene and Milton brought significant flooding and devastation to our property. The storms caused serious damage to the rear ground floor area of the museum, and several large boats are still stuck on pilings after drifting on the property during the storm surge. Along with the boats, there’s a lot of debris scattered across the property that needs to be cleared.  All proceeds are paid directly from PayPal to the Military Heritage Museum click here.  Unfortunately, the organization that acts as our landlord has not helped with the issue, leaving us to cover the cleanup costs ourselves.

One statistic is referenced every October as we pause to recognize Breast Cancer Awareness Month: one in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer at some point during her lifetime. Instead, there is another stat that should be commanding our attention – more than 4 million breast cancer survivors in the U.S. have overcome the disease and are living happy, healthy lives. Since 1989, the breast cancer death rate has declined 42%. In fact, the American Cancer Society notes the five-year survival rate for localized breast cancer (which means it hasn’t spread outside the breast) is 99%. That’s a statistic worth sharing!   Advocate Radiation Oncology: AdvocateRO.com

For some of us in SWFL, we can’t wait just to get to November 30th and the end of hurricane season. The Visual Arts Center didn’t sustain any wind or water damage but many of our VAC Family did. We have rallied to their cause with donations of furniture and household items. I have seen this across Charlotte, Sarasota, and Lee Counties. When our community is in need, we are there. So, thank you all. Please take time for yourselves during your recovery. Standing in front of art for 20 minutes is mentally and physically healing. Our galleries are free to the public.

One in eight men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer during their lifetime. That’s the same rate as women diagnosed with breast cancer, yet Prostate Cancer Awareness Month in September garnered little fanfare. Media may not focus on it, but men should be proactive by evaluating their individual risk factors, like age, ethnicity, family history and even diet. Today, initial screenings require a simple, non-invasive Prostate-Specific Antigen (PSA) blood test. If results show abnormalities, physicians can refer patients for additional testing. The five-year survival rate for prostate cancer diagnosed in the early stages is above 99%, proving the value of regular screenings.    Advocate Radiation Oncology: AdvocateRO.com
