History

Honoring a century of service, advocacy, and progress by the Charlotte County Chamber of Commerce — building a stronger Charlotte County since 1925.

Celebrating 100 Years of Building

Business and Community

In 1925, a group of local leaders came together to form the Board of Trade in Punta Gorda — the first chapter in what would become a century-long legacy of business leadership and community development. That early organization evolved into the Punta Gorda Chamber of Commerce, supporting the commercial heart of Charlotte County during its early growth.

By the 1950s, with rapid development in Port Charlotte, demand for business support expanded. The Port Charlotte Chamber of Commerce was established — famously operating out of a tiki hut on the land where the Promenades Mall now stands. In 1966, the two Chambers unified, forming the Greater Charlotte County Chamber of Commerce to serve the entire region with a shared vision for progress.

Today, the Charlotte County Chamber proudly marks 100 years of service — advocating for local businesses, promoting economic vitality, and leading with integrity. We are funded solely by the investment of our members — no tax dollars — and driven by a deep commitment to shaping a strong, resilient, and connected community for generations to come.
